The City of Hollywood Park has an interesting and humble history.  In 1951,  Mr. W. Barnes, developer, purchased the land and named it Hollywood Park. Creating a country suburban option north of the city center.  The first home built in Hollywood Park was at 204 Sequoia Drive, by the Sargent family. This was the land at the entrance of Hollywood Park. Eventually this family established a lumber yard where other locals could purchase supplies without driving over 10 miles to San Antonio businesses. The lumber yard was used for the cities official business. Later this land was purchased by the city to house the Town Hall and Fire Department. At this time, Hwy 281 was called San Pedro Drive and Mecca Drive was developed to access Hollywood Park from San Pedro. The land north of this first homeowner, was owned by Mr. Voigt, a rancher, who later sold large parcels of land to more development in the area.
